This is the web site containing information about the Face Recognition Grand Challenge, the Multiple Biometrics Grand Challenge, and the Biometrics Experimentation Environment (BEE).
MBGC Resources
If you wish to learn more about the MBGC, please go to http://face.nist.gov/mbgc.
If you would like to participate in the MBGC and download the challenge problems and data set, you must follow these instructions exactly.
- Contact the MBGC Liaison at mbgc@nist.gov, using an organizational email address for the contact (gmail, hotmail, and other free e-mail addresses cannot be used to establish an organizational affiliation).
- Transmit a copy Include your organizational business card with your request. You can either send it via email (to mgbc@nist.gov) or in hard copy. If you elect to send it via hard copy, please send it to the following address:

- Answer any questions mailed by the MBGC Liaison.
- Await a letter of welcome from the MBGC Liaison.
- Read the letter of welcome carefully. In particular, read the information describing who can sign the licenses and who cannot. Students cannot sign these licenses. Under most circumstances, faculty cannot sign these licenses.
- Complete the necessary licenses for the MBGC data sets and support code.
- The MBGC v1.0 data sets are available for all authorized MBGC participants. The data license form must be signed
by the organization's legal representative and is available

- The MBGC v2.0 data sets are available for all authorized MBGC participants. There are three forms that must be
signed by the licensee's legal representative.
- The Notre Dame MBGC v2.0 data license is

- The UT-Dallas MBGC v2.0 data license is

- The permission form governing use of the UT-Dallas database is

- A list of UTD subject-IDs whose data may be used in publications is

ICE Resources
The ICE program has ended and the ICE 2005 data set is no longer available for download. The ND-IRIS-0405 data set, which contains all of the ICE 2005 data plus over 60,000 additional iris images, is available; go to http://www.nd.edu/~cvrl/CVRL/Data_Sets.html for more information.

FRGC Resources
The Face Recognition Grand Challenge concluded on March 23, 2006.
Please follow this link for information on FRGC.
The data for FRGC 2.0 will continue to be distributed. In order to receive the data, please follow these instructions:
- Contact the FRGC liaison at NIST and make your request for data.
- Wait for an e-mailed permission letter containing instructions on whom to contact regarding the data.
- Contact the person mentioned in the instructions.
- You will receive instructions regarding the licensing of the data.
- Once the licensing process is completed, you will be sent instructions regarding the download procedure.
